Comedian Patrice O'Neal Has Died @ Age 41

Share

The booking agent for Patrice O'Neal has confirmed to CNN that the comedian and entertainer died Tuesday morning following an illness. He was 41.

"Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius," O'Neal's agent says in a statement. "His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side."

O'Neal's passing was due to complications from a stroke O'Neal suffered on October 19. According to People magazine, the stroke was related to diabetes.

The magazine adds that Opie (a.k.a. Gregg Hughes) of SiriusXM's "Opie and Anthony" show also confirmed the death, tweeting of the radio program's frequent guest Tuesday, "Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker i've ever known PERIOD. #devastated."

O'Neal, a Boston native who performed in a variety of comedy specials and appeared on late night talk shows as well as hits like "The Office," was also on hand to poke fun at Charlie Sheen in Comedy Central's "Roast" of the actor in September.

Comedy Central and Sheen joined in the chorus of mournful tweets Tuesday. The network posted, "RIP Patrice - we'll miss you," while Sheen wrote that "The entertainment world as well as the world at large lost a brilliant man today. Patrice had that rare 'light' around him and inside of him. I only knew him for the few days leading up the Roast. Yet I will forever be inspired by his nobility, his grace and his epic talent. my tears today are for the tremendous loss to his true friends and loving family."

"Saturday Night Live" star Seth Meyers wrote that "a day spent watching clips of him on-line is a day well spent," while comedian and actor Colin Quinn said, "Thanks to everybody for the Patrice ONeal comments. One of a kind. In heaven right now, charming half and infuriating half, then reversing."

Sandra Bernhard shared via Twitter, "[T]erribly sad to hear about patrice o'neal we had a great time on @thegreenroom a couple of years back thoughts go out to his family." Added Questlove of The Roots, "So grateful i got to see Patrice Oneal do his last NYC gig. man this is so devastating. he truly was one of my favorite comics. RIP Patrice."

In addition to his mother, the heralded comic is also survived by his wife, step-daughter and sister.

"The family wishes to thank all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks," the statement from O'Neal's agent continues. "We ask that you please respect the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time."

Facebook Has Removed Most Spam & Porn That Has Plagued The Site

Share

The past few days wow i saw most of that stuff and it was pretty gross and some just straight up graphic cruel.

(CNN) -- Facebook says a hack that exploited some Web browsers was responsible for a flood of porn, violent images and other graphic content that spread across the site over the past couple of days.

Spokesman Frederic Wolens said Facebook's security team had been working to identify the cause of the spam and that, by Tuesday afternoon, "we have eliminated most of the spam caused by this attack."

"We are now working to improve our systems to better defend against similar attacks in the future," Wolens said in an e-mail.
Earlier Tuesday, Graham Cluley, a consultant with Web security firm Sophos, said that "explicit and violent" images had been flooding the News Feeds of Facebook users for the past 24 hours or so.

Cluley wrote on the Sophos blog that the images included hardcore porn; photoshopped images of celebrities, including teen pop star Justin Bieber, in sexual positions; "extreme violence;" and at least one image of an abused dog.

"What's clear," Cluley wrote, "is that mischief-makers are upsetting many Facebook users and making the social networking site far from a family-friendly place."
Several CNN.com staffers reported seeing some of the images by Tuesday morning.
Facebook's Wolens said that users were tricked into pasting malicious script into their browser URL bars, causing them to unknowingly share the offensive content.
He said no data or account information was compromised during the attack.

The blog AllFacebook reported that the social-media giant had been quietly taking down the images for most of the day Tuesday.
Writer Jackie Cohen said a request for comment on the images merely got a reply thanking her for "flagging" the images.

"The fact that these photos spread for as long as 48 hours unchecked [shows] how much Facebook relies on individual users to flag inappropriate content: people were commenting on the images more than flagging them," she wrote.
Users were, understandably, distraught.

"Seeing a dead dog on my Facebook news feed ........ Officially deactivating it," said one Twitter user in a post collected by Sophos.
"I saw a dead dog, Justin Bieber [performing a sex act] and a naked grandma," said another. "Time to delete facebook."

The Facebook statement said the site has built a mechanism to shut down pages sharing the links and contacted people affected by the attack with information about how to protect themselves.
The site advised users never to copy and paste unknown code into their browser bars, always use up-to-date browsers and use the "Report" links on Facebook to report suspicious activity when they see it.

Facebook did not say anything about who may have been behind the attacks.
With questions still abounding, speculation on the Web turned -- as it often does in online hacking cases -- the controversial "hacktivist" collective Anonymous.

A group claiming allegiance to Anonymous announced it was going to make November 5 "Kill Facebook Day." That day came and went with little noticeable activity.
But last week, an Anonymous-affiliated group announced in a YouTube video that it had created the "Fawkes virus," a sophisticated tool that would attack Facebook.

A handful of Twitter feeds widely acknowledged as being run by Anonymous members had made no mention of the Facebook posts Tuesday morning.
At least two members had previously distanced themselves from Operation Facebook, saying it was doomed to fail and that Anonymous is not a cohesive group with unanimously approved goals.
"Using a simple Facebook account, the worm can be carried into other accounts with little or no interaction," an automated voice says in the video posted on the account "AnonSecurity157." "We did not expect the intensity with which this would spread."

The video claims the worm can be controlled remotely and that once it's fully understood it "will use this to its advantage against corruption."

Rest In Peace Rap Icon Heavy D

Rap legend Heavy D -- one of the most influential rappers of the '90s -- died earlier today ... TMZ has learned.

Heavy D -- real name Dwight Arrington Myers -- was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today ... and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old.

We've learned a 911 call was placed from Heavy's Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway .

When help arrived, we're told Heavy D was conscious and speaking -- and was transported to a nearby hospital.

He died a short time later.

Cops are investigating the death -- and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play.

Heavy just performed at the BET Awards in October -- and appeared to be fine.

The 44-year-old star, who found fame with his 1991 hit Now That We Found Love and appeared in several movies, was reportedly rushed to a hospital this afternoon after a 911 call was made from his Beverly Hills home.

Officials tell TMZ that no foul play is suspected, and they are investigating the death.

Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, had just performed at two special events last month: the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales and the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta.

The overweight star tweeted a simple final message earlier today: "BE INSPIRED!"

Famous fans from the music world took to Twitter to remember him and express shock at his sudden death. A roundup of who's saying what:

-LL Cool J: "May GOD embrace the soul of Heavy D and Bless his family. I respected you Heavy and I always will."

-Eve: "RIP HEAVY D... Sending my prayers and condolences to family and friends"

-Joel Madden: "Heavy D was a truly positive and uplifting man. Rest in peace Heavy. Its a very Sad day today."

-Keyshia Cole: "When I met Heavy D.. He said 'believe U have a good soul, Sing with always having Something to say'"

-Big Boi: "R.I.P Heavy D a true pioneer may god bless your soul"

Rest In Peace Boxing Champion Joe Frazier Dead @ 67

Share

Former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier died Monday, after he was diagnosed with liver cancer, his family said in a statement.
Frazier was 67.

"We The Family of ... Smokin' Joe Frazier, regret to inform you of his passing," the statement said. "He transitioned from this life as 'One of God's Men,' on the eve of November 7, 2011 at his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania."
He fought fellow boxing legend Muhammad Ali three times, including the famous "Thrilla in Manila" fight in 1975.
"He's a true gentleman," personal and business manager Leslie Wolff said Saturday when confirming Frazier's illness. "Along with Muhammad Ali, (he is) one of the two most recognizable athletes in the world."
Fans and well-wishers were encouraged to post their thoughts and prayers on a Facebook page at joefrazierscorner.com.
"Thank you for being such a class act," read a Facebook post written before the champ's death. "I grew up watching boxing with my dad and you were at the top of our list of exceptional fighters who were also great people."
Frazier, nicknamed "Smokin' Joe," used his devastating left hook with impunity during his professional career, retiring in 1976 with a 32-4-1 record and staging one last comeback fight in 1981.
The son of a South Carolina sharecropper, Frazier boxed during the glory days of the heavyweight division, going up against greats George Foreman, Oscar Bonavena, Joe Bugner and Jimmy Ellis. He made his name by winning a gold medal for the United States at the 1964 Summer Games in Tokyo.
But it was his three much-hyped fights against Ali that helped seal his legend.
Frazier bested Ali at 1971's "Fight of the Century" at Madison Square Garden. In the 15th round, Frazier landed perhaps the most famous left hook in history, catching Ali on the jaw and dropping the former champ for a four-count, according to Frazier's bio at the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Frazier left the ring as the undisputed champ and handed Ali his first professional loss.

Ali won a 12-round decision in a January 1974 rematch, setting the stage for the classic "Thrilla in Manila" just outside the Philippine capital in 1975.
Ali took the early rounds, but Frazier rebounded before losing the last five rounds. By the end of the 14th, Frazier's eyes were nearly swollen shut, and his corner stopped the bout, according to the biography.

Later, Ali said, "It was the closest I've come to death."
Frazier was a two-time heavyweight champion for nearly three years until he lost in January 1973 to George Foreman.

He lived in Philadelphia, where he operated a boxing gym for many years.
"I don't mind working with the kids," Frazier told CNN's Don Lemon in 2009. "The kids is tomorrow. And if we don't do what we're supposed to do for them now, how are you going (to)expect them to carry on?"
Asked whether he was similar to Rocky Balboa, the title character in the "Rocky" series, Frazier replied, "Sure. I worked at the slaughterhouse. I'm the guy that ran in the streets of Philadelphia."

Dr. Conrad Murray GUILTY In The Death Of Michael Jackson

Share

LOS ANGELES – Conrad Murray was convicted Monday of involuntary manslaughter in the drug-overdose death of singer Michael Jackson after a jury deliberated for two days.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor handed the case to the seven-man, five-woman jury Thursday after closing arguments by prosecutor David Walgren and lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff. Over nearly six weeks of testimony, jurors heard from 33 prosecution witnesses and 16 defense witnesses. More than 340 exhibits were available in the jury room as the panel mulled a verdict.
Jackson, 50, died on June 25, 2009, of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol, aggravated by effects of the sedative lorazepam. Murray, 58, was charged with a single count of involuntary manslaughter. He pleaded not guilty.

Walgren said Murray caused Jackson's death through acts of "criminal negligence" in using a hospital-grade drug for insomnia in Jackson's home without proper monitoring and resuscitation equipment. Murray also acted negligently in delaying 20 minutes before calling 911, attempting CPR incompetently and failing to tell rescue personnel he had used propofol, Walgren said.
A negligent failure to act can be involuntary manslaughter under California law. Walgren adopted this theory, too, saying Murray had failed to fulfill a doctor's legal duty to care for a patient.

Murray's attorneys said Jackson, not Murray, administered the fatal overdose in an upstairs bedroom of his rented mansion in Murray's absence. If that was the case, Walgren argued, it was criminally negligent of Murray to be absent from the bedside — while using the bathroom or "distracted" by phone calls and e-mails — when he was supposed to be monitoring Jackson's sedation.
"No one has sought to prove that Conrad Murray sought to kill Michael Jackson," Walgren said. But Murray "acted so recklessly with the life of Michael Jackson in his hands that it amounts to indifference to the very life of Michael Jackson," he said.
At the time he died, Jackson was in final rehearsals for This Is It, a series of 50 comeback concerts to begin in London a month later. Murray, a cardiologist with practices in Las Vegas and Houston, had treated the entertainer and his three children for various ailments in Las Vegas from 2006 to 2008. Jackson, who had complained of insomnia for years, hired Murray in April 2009 on a $150,000-a-month contract to care for him exclusively through the rehearsals and shows.

Murray told police two days after Jackson died that, over the course of two months, he had given the singer propofol intravenously to put him to sleep. Jackson told Murray and other health care providers that only propofol worked to bring him sleep quickly, trial evidence showed. Despite Jackson's pleas for propofol on the morning he died, Murray told police, he gave only half the usual dose — a single "push" of 25 milligrams over three to five minutes — because he was trying to "wean him off" the drug.

Prosecutors heaped doubt on Murray's story. Steven Shafer, an anesthesiologist and propofol expert testifying for the state, said computer modeling based on propofol concentrations in Jackson's blood at autopsy proved that Murray must have given 1,000 milligrams of propofol — 40 times more than he told police — through a three-hour IV drip that continued running even as Jackson died.

Walgren argued that Jackson died in an "obscene experiment" by Murray, who the prosecutor said was using an unprecedented and "bizarre" mode of treatment.
More than eight days of the trial were consumed by a battle over science between Shafer and Paul White of Dallas, a retired anesthesiologist noted for early studies of propofol. White, testifying for the defense, said there was no IV drip. Citing a 1988 propofol study, he said a drip would have produced much higher propofol levels than the coroner found in Jackson's urine.
The prosecution countered White with a 2002 study that Shafer said proved that Jackson's urine concentration of propofol was consistent with a drip.

Paramedics could have been on the scene in four minutes, possibly reviving Jackson after he stopped breathing, Walgren said. Witnesses said Murray didn't ask a security guard to call 911 until after he first tried CPR unsuccessfully, asked Jackson's chef to "get help, get security" and telephoned Jackson's personal assistant to ask him to come to the house.
"What on Earth would delay a medical doctor in making that call, other than to protect himself?" Walgren said.

Then, in neglecting to tell paramedics and emergency room doctors that he had administered propofol, Murray showed consciousness of guilt, Walgren said. "That is Conrad Murray knowing full well what caused Michael Jackson's death," the prosecutor said.
Walgren strongly suggested that Murray had concealed crucial evidence — the IV tubing he had used for propofol — in the big pockets of cargo pants he wore that day.
In a "corrupted" doctor-patient relationship with Jackson, Walgren said, Murray acted subserviently rather than as a doctor putting the patient's interests first. Acceding to Jackson's demands for nightly propofol, Murray "is an employee saying yes to what he is asked, instead of saying yes to what is best for Michael Jackson's health — as any ethical, competent doctor would do," Walgren said.

Murray did not take the stand. Walgren showed the jury a photo of Jackson's two sons, ages 14 and 8, and his 13-year-old daughter, and repeatedly focused on their loss of their father. "To them, this case doesn't end today or tomorrow or the next day," Walgren said. "For Michael's children, this case will go on forever because they do not have a father."
Walgren never used the title "doctor" for Murray, always calling him "Conrad Murray" neutralizing any respect in which people hold physicians. Chernoff always called his client "Dr. Murray."

Chernoff said in his closing argument that the prosecution was blaming Murray for what Jackson and others did. Murray "was just a little fish in a big, dirty pond," Chernoff said.
He put responsibility on the pop star and on the concert-tour promoters, whom he said were pressuring Jackson. Chernoff also blamed Jackson's dermatologist, who he said had given him Demerol.

In finding Murray guilty, the jury accepted the argument that at least one grossly negligent act, or failure to act, by Murray was a "substantial factor" in causing Jackson's death.
Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, and a delegation of his five brothers and three sisters attended the trial regularly. Jackson fans thronged the hallway outside the courtroom daily. After Walgren's closing argument, Jackson fans cheered loudly and shouted, "Thank you!"
Murray faces a sentence that ranges from probation to a maximum of four years in prison. He also faces possible loss of his medical licenses in California, Nevada, Texas and Hawaii.

The judge, not the jury, will decide Murray's sentence. A recent change in state law means Murray could serve his time, if any, in a Los Angeles County facility rather than a state penitentiary.

Ex Heavyweight Boxing Champ Joes Frazier Has Liver Cancer

Share

wow how sad

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier has liver cancer and is under hospice care.

The 67-year-old boxer was diagnosed four or five weeks ago, Frazier’s personal and business manager said Saturday. Leslie Wolff told The Associated Press that doctors have not yet told Frazier how long he has to live.

“We have medical experts looking into the all the options that are out there,” Wolff said. “There are very few. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop looking.”

Wolff, who has been Frazier’s manager for seven years, said the boxer had been in out and out of the hospital since early October and receiving hospice treatment the last week.

“We appreciate every prayer we can get,” Wolff said. “I’ve got everybody praying for him. We”ll just keep our fingers crossed and hope for a miracle.”

Frazier’s illness was first reported by the New York Post, citing an unidentified. source.

Frazier was the first man to beat Muhammad Ali, knocking him down and taking a decision in the so-called Fight of the Century in 1971. He would go on to lose two more fights to Ali, including the epic “Thrilla in Manila” bout.

Frazier was bitter for many years about the way Ali treated him then. More recently, he said he had forgiven Ali for repeatedly taunting him.

Smokin’ Joe was a small yet ferocious fighter who smothered his opponents with punches, including a devastating left hook he used to end many of his fights early. It was the left hook that dropped Ali in the 15th round of their “Fight of the Century” at Madison Square Garden in 1971 to seal a win in a bout where each fighter earned an unheard of $2.5 million.

While that fight is celebrated in boxing lore, Ali and Frazier put on an even better show in their third fight, held in a sweltering arena in Manila as part of Ali’s world tour of fights in 1975. Nearly blinded by Ali’s punches, Frazier still wanted to go out for the 15th round of the fight but was held back by trainer Eddie Futch in a bout Ali would later say was the closest thing to death he could imagine.

Frazier won the heavyweight title in 1970 by stopping Jimmy Ellis in the fifth round of their fight at Madison Square Garden. He defended it successfully four times before George Foreman knocked him down six times in the first two rounds to take the title from him in 1973.

Frazier would never be heavyweight champion again.

In recent years, Frazier had been doing regular autograph appearances, including one in Las Vegas the weekend of a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight in

Rest In Peace Tv Icon Andy Rooney Of 60 Minutes

Share

NEW YORK (AP) — Andy Rooney so dreaded the day he had to end his signature "60 Minutes" commentaries about life's large and small absurdities that he kept going until he was 92 years old.

Even then, he said he wasn't retiring. Writers never retire. But his life after the end of "A Few Minutes With Andy Rooney" was short: He died Friday night, according to CBS, only a month after delivering his 1,097th and final televised commentary.
Rooney had gone to the hospital for an undisclosed surgery, but major complications developed and he never recovered.

"Andy always said he wanted to work until the day he died, and he managed to do it, save the last few weeks in the hospital," said his "60 Minutes" colleague, correspondent Steve Kroft.
Rooney talked on "60 Minutes" about what was in the news, and his opinions occasionally got him in trouble. But he was just as likely to discuss the old clothes in his closet, why air travel had become unpleasant and why banks needed to have important-sounding names.
Rooney won one of his four Emmy Awards for a piece on whether there was a real Mrs. Smith who made Mrs. Smith's Pies. As it turned out, there was no Mrs. Smith.

"I obviously have a knack for getting on paper what a lot of people have thought and didn't realize they thought," Rooney once said. "And they say, 'Hey, yeah!' And they like that."
Looking for something new to punctuate its weekly broadcast, "60 Minutes" aired its first Rooney commentary on July 2, 1978. He complained about people who keep track of how many people die in car accidents on holiday weekends. In fact, he said, the Fourth of July is "one of the safest weekends of the year to be going someplace."

More than three decades later, he was railing about how unpleasant air travel had become. "Let's make a statement to the airlines just to get their attention," he said. "We'll pick a week next year and we'll all agree not to go anywhere for seven days."
In early 2009, as he was about to turn 90, Rooney looked ahead to President Barack Obama's upcoming inauguration with a look at past inaugurations. He told viewers that Calvin Coolidge's 1925 swearing-in was the first to be broadcast on radio, adding, "That may have been the most interesting thing Coolidge ever did."
"Words cannot adequately express Andy's contribution to the world of journalism and the impact he made — as a colleague and a friend — upon everybody at CBS," said Leslie Moonves, CBS Corp. president and CEO.

Jeff Fager, CBS News chairman and "60 Minutes" executive producer, said "it's hard to imagine not having Andy around. He loved his life and he lived it on his own terms. We will miss him very much."
For his final essay, Rooney said that he'd live a life luckier than most.
"I wish I could do this forever. I can't, though," he said.
He said he probably hadn't said anything on "60 Minutes" that most of his viewers didn't already know or hadn't thought. "That's what a writer does," he said. "A writer's job is to tell the truth."

True to his occasional crotchety nature, though, he complained about being famous or bothered by fans. His last wish from fans: If you see him in a restaurant, just let him eat his dinner.
Rooney was a freelance writer in 1949 when he encountered CBS radio star Arthur Godfrey in an elevator and — with the bluntness millions of people learned about later — told him his show could use better writing. Godfrey hired him and by 1953, when he moved to TV, Rooney was his only writer.

He wrote for CBS' Garry Moore during the early 1960s before settling into a partnership with Harry Reasoner at CBS News. Given a challenge to write on any topic, he wrote "An Essay on Doors" in 1964, and continued with contemplations on bridges, chairs and women.
"The best work I ever did," Rooney said. "But nobody knows I can do it or ever did it. Nobody knows that I'm a writer and producer. They think I'm this guy on television."
He became such a part of the culture that comic Joe Piscopo satirized Rooney's squeaky voice with the refrain, "Did you ever ..." Rooney never started any of his essays that way. For many years, "60 Minutes" improbably was the most popular program on television and a dose of Rooney was what people came to expect for a knowing smile on the night before they had to go back to work.

Rooney left CBS in 1970 when it refused to air his angry essay about the Vietnam War. He went on TV for the first time, reading the essay on PBS and winning a Writers Guild of America award for it.
He returned to CBS three years later as a writer and producer of specials. Notable among them was the 1975 "Mr. Rooney Goes to Washington," whose lighthearted but serious look at government won him a Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting.
His words sometimes landed Rooney in hot water. CBS suspended him for three months in 1990 for making racist remarks in an interview, which he denied. Rooney, who was arrested in Florida while in the Army in the 1940s for refusing to leave a seat among blacks on a bus, was hurt deeply by the charge of racism.

Gay rights groups were mad, during the AIDS epidemic, when Rooney mentioned homosexual unions in saying "many of the ills which kill us are self-induced." Indians protested when Rooney suggested Native Americans who made money from casinos weren't doing enough to help their own people.

The Associated Press learned the danger of getting on Rooney's cranky side. In 1996, AP Television Writer Frazier Moore wrote a column suggesting it was time for Rooney to leave the broadcast. On Rooney's next "60 Minutes" appearance, he invited those who disagreed to make their opinions known. The AP switchboard was flooded by some 7,000 phone calls and countless postcards were sent to the AP mail room.

"Your piece made me mad," Rooney told Moore two years later. "One of my major shortcomings — I'm vindictive. I don't know why that is. Even in petty things in my life I tend to strike back. It's a lot more pleasurable a sensation than feeling threatened.
"He was one of television's few voices to strongly oppose the war in Iraq after the George W. Bush administration launched it in 2002. After the fall of Baghdad in April 2003, he said he was chastened by its quick fall but didn't regret his "60 Minutes" commentaries.
"I'm in a position of feeling secure enough so that I can say what I think is right and if so many people think it's wrong that I get fired, well, I've got enough to eat," Rooney said at the time.

Andrew Aitken Rooney was born on Jan. 14, 1919, in Albany, N.Y., and worked as a copy boy on the Albany Knickerbocker News while in high school. College at Colgate University was cut short by World War II, when Rooney worked for Stars and Stripes.
With another former Stars and Stripes staffer, Oram C. Hutton, Rooney wrote four books about the war. They included the 1947 book, "Their Conqueror's Peace: A Report to the American Stockholders," documenting offenses against the Germans by occupying forces.
Rooney and his wife, Marguerite, were married for 62 years before she died of heart failure in 2004. They had four children and lived in New York, with homes in Norwalk, Conn., and upstate New York. Daughter Emily Rooney is a former executive producer of ABC's "World News Tonight." Brian was a longtime ABC News correspondent, Ellen a photographer and Martha Fishel is chief of the public service division of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
Services will be private, and it's anticipated CBS News will hold a public memorial later, Brian Rooney said Saturday.

Bricksquad Affiliate, RoseMo700, Murdered In Los Angeles

RoseMo700, an affiliate of Waka Flocka's Brick Squad Monopoly, was gunned down in Los Angeles on Thursday (November 3) while on his way home.

According to the L.A.Times, The 26-year-old (real name: Jomo Adoula Zambia) was driving a red BMW in Inglewood around 2:30 pm, shortly after dropping his girlfriend off at work, when it was shot at. RoseMo was hit in the arm and torso, and continued driving, speeding through a red light and smashing into an unmarked police car.

Both he and the police officer -- who had to be extracted from his car with the jaws of life -- were rushed to a nearby hospital. RoseMo succumbed to his injuries later that day, while the officer was in stable condition Thursday.

Officials are investigating the shooting, and said they had no information surrounding the circumstances as of press time. Inglewood police are asking that anyone with information call the tip line at (888) 412-7463.

However, a lot of things have unfolded online in the last several weeks, in regard to conflicts RoseMo had with others around Los Angeles.

Back in mid-September, RoseMo made headlines across hip-hop blogs when he and Brick Squad recording artist Ice Burgandy detailed an alleged run-in with L.A. rap star The Game, which they claimed ended with Game being knocked out at a Los Angeles shopping mall. Then more recently, days before his tragic death, RoseMo surfaced on blogs again, in a clip where he is seen fighting local rapper Boskoe1 while his friend, CTE rapper 2Eleven, films and comments about it.

Both altercations stemmed from arguments that began on Twitter, involving RoseMo's childhood friend Ice Burgundy, an L.A. rapper affiliated with Waka's Brick Squad label.

Police told the Times that The Game is not a suspect in the case. "Our investigation is leading us in a different direction," Police Detective Gabriel De La Torre said.

It's unclear if his previous beefs on the Internet contributed to his death.

Waka Flocka's publicist told the L.A. Weekly that he had no affiliation with RoseMo, but has worked with Ice Burgundy in the past.

RoseMo, 26, is survived by his 3-year-old daughter. His family and friends are planning to hold a vigil for him in Inglewood on Saturday (November 5).

Creator Of Vans Skateboarder Shoes Has Died @ Age 72

Share

Wow i was bout to get a pair on sale the other day but changed my mind Rest In Peace to a Foot Fashion Icon

LOS ANGELES (AP) — James Van Doren, the co-founder of Vans canvas shoes that were embraced by the skateboard culture and became a nationwide sensation when Sean Penn wore a checkerboard pair in the 1982 movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," has died. He was 72.
Van Doren died of cancer at his Fullerton home on Oct. 12, his wife Char told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Van Doren, who was a chemist, and his older brother Paul began selling custom shoes in 1966 from their first store in Anaheim. The brothers only had sample shoes and their made-to-order shoes were often made with the canvas material and patterns brought in by customers.
The Van Doren's and two other co-founders decided the Van Doren Rubber Co. business plan was to eliminate the middleman and sell the rubber-soled shoes directly to the public.
The Orange County skateboard crowd took a liking to the sticky, waffle-pattern rubber soles that helped skaters grip their boards and the casual shoes known simply as Vans quickly became a household name in Southern California by the mid-1970s.

The shoes were essential footwear for hip pre-teens, teens and adults.
The brand got national recognition when Sean Penn wore pair of checkerboard slip-on Vans in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."
"It was completely a surprise," Char Van Doren said. "The checkerboard pattern skyrocketed after that."
By the early 1980s, foreign competition in the athletic shoe business led to heavy losses, prompting the company to file for bankruptcy protection. A court-ordered management shake-up in 1984 led to the departure of James.

Control was returned to Paul, who came out of semi-retirement to run the then-Orange-based firm.
Four years later, an investment banking company bought Vans, which has been sold several times since.
In 2004, Vans Inc., then headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, was bought by Greensboro, N.C.-based VF Corp., a clothing company with brands such as Wrangler jeans, Vanity Fair lingerie and The North Face outdoor line.
The Vans office is now in Cypress, where several Van Doren family members still work.
As for James Van Doren, loyalty to the American-man shoe never waned. His wife says he wore Vans deck shoes "every day of his life."

"I know where he is: He's still in my heart and he's with God," his widow said.
Van Doren's body was cremated and his ashes may be scattered in Hawaii. A memorial Mass is planned Friday morning at Fullerton's St. Juliana Falconieri Catholic Church
Besides his wife, Van Doren is survived by sons James Jr., Mark and Eric; brothers Paul and Robert and sister Bernice Chute.
