ARTIST BIO
BIANCA ROCHELL COMBINES SPANISH/AFRICAN-AMERICAN ROOTS TO MAKE SULTRY, SOULFUL MUSIC
Deeply influenced by Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, this Spanish/African-American powerhouse voice is quite distinct in style. From Neo-Soul to Hip-Hop to Rock-n-Roll to Salsa, it's no surprise that Bianca continues to excel as a singer/songwriter/musician with vast ambitions in music. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Miss Rochell hails from a rich musical background deeply rooted in church, family and school. She got her start singing at 5 and began playing the flute at 12.
PERFORMING AT MANY DFW VENUES
When Bianca began writing her own lyrics with a little push from a close friend, Myeisha Meeks, spilling everything over from her heart onto paper, it was inevitable that she would soon hit the stage. In early 2008, Mye invited Bianca to Open Mic Night at The Prophet Bar in Deep Ellum/Downtown Dallas. Although Bianca had been singing for many years, it was to her surprise that would be her stage debut as a solo artist. She began performing regularly at The Prophet Bar singing songs like: “Killing Me Softly” by Lauryn Hill/The Fugees, “Next Lifetime” and “On & On” by Erykah Badu, “ Say Yes” by Floetry, and her absolute favorite “Whenever You’re Around” by Jill Scott.
Engaging the crowd with her sultry, soulful, but sweet voice, aside from The Prophet Bar, Bianca has also performed at many DFW venues such as: Firewater, Tephegez, Sankofa, Jokes & Jazz and Excuses.
