VIBE magazine has shut down.

The magazine was launched in 1993 by music industry legend Quincy Jones and it served as as widely revered urban magazine.

"On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today," said Danyel Smith, former Chief Content Officer of Vibe Media Group and Editor in Chief of Vibe. If you've been led to believe that recent Milwaukee Bucks draftee Brandon Jennings(notes) has absolutely no idea just what the hell he's doing, you probably wouldn't be wrong in that assertion.
After all, the kid's public life thus far has hardly been the stuff of PR dreams. Consider that ...
*Jennings failed to acquire the necessary test-based certification needed in order to play for the University of Arizona.
*Jennings decided to forgo the junior college route as a result, deciding instead to play a year of basketball overseas before declaring for the NBA Draft. Not necessarily a bad thing, but atypical none the less.
*Jennings complained about his playing time and overseas experience in an ESPN the Magazine article midway through his lone season with Lottomatica Roma. Again, well within his rights, but griping pro athletes have rarely won over the American public.
*Jennings showed no hesitation in bashing fellow draftee-to-be Ricky Rubio(notes) after a workout with the Sacramento Kings, either uncaring or unaware (or both) that the cameras and tape recorders were running. Another Tv Celebrity Has Passed Away

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.
Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.
Mays' wife, Deborah Mays, says the family doesn't expect to make any public statements and asked for privacy.
Mays was also featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.
Discovery Channel spokeswoman Elizabeth Hillman released a statement Sunday extending sympathy to the Mays family.
"Everyone that knows him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth," Hillman's statement said. "Billy was a pioneer in his field and helped many people fulfill their dreams. He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend."

Rest In Peace To Farrah Fawcett Dead @ Age 62

LOS ANGELES – Farrah Fawcett, the "Charlie's Angels" star whose feathered blond hair and dazzling smile made her one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1970s, died Thursday after battling cancer. She was 62.
The pop icon, who in the 1980s set aside the fantasy girl image to tackle serious roles, died shortly before 9:30 a.m. in a Santa Monica hospital, spokesman Paul Bloch said.
Ryan O'Neal, the longtime companion who had reunited with Fawcett as she fought anal cancer, was at her side, along with close friend Alana Stewart, Bloch said.
"After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away," O'Neal said. "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."
Other "Charlie's Angels" stars paid tribute to her.

Six Flags Seeks Bankruptcy to Cut Debt $1.8 Billion

June 13 (Bloomberg) -- Six Flags Inc., the owner of 20 theme parks, sought bankruptcy protection 3 1/2 years after Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder become chairman and hired new managers in an attempt to return it to profitability.

The Chapter 11 petition filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware, listed assets of $3 billion and debt of $2.4 billion as of Dec. 31. Thirty-six affiliates also sought protection.

Snyder began a shakeup of Six Flags in late 2005 after winning three seats on the board. The 48-year-old company hasn’t posted an annual profit since 1998 and had losses of $558.8 million in the two years after Snyder became chairman.
