Mitchell Guist, one of the happy-go-lucky stars of the hit reality TV show "Swamp People," has died. Guist appeared on the show with his brother, Glenn. Their History Channel biography says: "Swampers through and through, Glenn and Mitchell Guist were born and raised on the bayou and live entirely off the land.

These brothers are always up to something, whether it’s hunting for their dinner or making use of everything nature has to offer." According to Sheriff Mike Waguespack, who spoke to WRBZ Louisiana, Guist was in his boat along the Belle River when he apparently fell.

Witnesses say he appeared to have been suffering from a seizure. "Swamp People" has been a hit for the History Channel. Currently in its third season, the show focuses on the lives of alligator hunters in rural Louisiana. The Guist brothers joined the cast in the second season.

There is no official word yet on Guist's cause of death.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to WAFB. CPR attempts were unsuccessful. There is no word on whether an autopsy will be performed.
News of Guist's death quickly spread. "Swamp People" became a trending term on Twitter. The condolences rolled in on the show's official Facebook page. "Rip Mitch!! So sad :0( Glen is gonna be lost without him," one person wrote. Another posted, "Couldn't help but shed some tears. RIP Mitch."
Guist was a likable fellow. When, during one episode, he was asked about his favorite food, he responded, ”squirrels, rabbits, deers, fish, frogs… I ain’t really picky on food.”

WiLLiAM Balfour Found Guilty In KiLLing Of Jennifer Hudsons Family

Share

The man accused of killing three members of Grammy and Oscar winning actress Jennifer Hudson's family was found guilty on all seven counts Friday afternoon. Chicago Tribune reporter Stacy St. Clair tweeted that Hudson, who has attended court regularly, was in court, wearing a black-and-white shawl, and accompanied by her sister and by her fiance, David Otunga. St. Clair reported that Hudson cried softly after the verdict and slumped against Otunga's shoulder, then stood on tiptoe to watch the jury walk out of the courtroom.

The verdict came just hours after the panel had told Judge Charles Burns of Cook County Court that they were split but would continue deliberating. Advertise | AdChoices William Balfour, 31, was accused of shooting to death Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57; her brother Jason Hudson, 29; and her nephew Julian King, 7. The only possible sentence for the Oct. 24, 2008, slayings is life in prison without the possibility of parole. Attorneys for Balfour said they would file a motion for a new trial on June 8 and will then appeal the verdict.

Balfour's attorneys proposed an alternate theory: that someone else in the crime-ridden neighborhood on Chicago's South Side targeted the family because of alleged crack-cocaine dealing by Jennifer Hudson's brother, Jason. During the 30 minutes in which they called just two witnesses, however, they presented no evidence to support that theory. Hudson was the first witness prosecutors called to testify, and during her more than 30 minutes on the stand, she talked about her murdered family members and spoke endearingly about her nephew, Julian King, whom she called Tugga Bear. She said she knew Balfour since the eighth grade but always deeply disliked him. Balfour had lived in the Hudsons' three-story Englewood home after marrying Julia Hudson in 2006. He moved out in early 2008 after falling out with his wife, but witnesses told jurors he often stalked the home.

The killings occurred the morning after Julia Hudson's birthday, and prosecutors said he became enraged when he stopped by the home and saw a gift of balloons in the house from her new boyfriend. After his estranged wife left for her job as a bus driver on the morning of Oct. 24, 2008, prosecutors said Balfour went back inside the home with a .45-caliber handgun and shot Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, in the back; he allegedly then shot Jason Hudson, 29, twice in the head as he lay in bed.

Prosecutors said Balfour then drove off in Jason Hudson's SUV with Julian — Julia's son, whom she called Juice Box — and shot the boy several times in the head as he lay behind a front seat. His body was found in the abandoned vehicle miles away after a three-day search. The defense tried to counter the portrayal of Balfour as an embittered husband by noting Julia Hudson continued to have sex with him until just days before the killings.

Breaking News Lil Boosie Found Not Guilty Of Murder

Share
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge rapper Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torence Hatch, has been found not guilty of murder. The jury deliberated for about an hour. Supporters are cheering outside the 19th Judicial Courthouse in Baton Rouge. Hatch and his defense team hugged and began crying once the verdict was read. Prosecutors said Hatch hired Michael Louding, also known as "Marlo Mike," to kill Terry Boyd.

The 35-year-old was shot to death through a window while inside his home in 2009. Hatch is currently serving an 8-year prison term on drug charges and is being held in the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. In its closing, the prosecution said the evidence speaks for itself. Prosecutor Dana Cummings said Louding admitted on interrogation tape that Hatch gave him $2,800 in $20s after the murder. She said Carvis "Donkey" Webb and Hatch worked on Louding to get him to tell the "truth." According to Cummings, during phone calls to Louding, Webb told him, "Follow my lead and you coming home Marlo."

She also told the jury Hatch wrote in a letter to his mother that he might have said some things that incriminate him. Cummings said the lyrics in Hatch's songs again prove his intent. She said in the phrase "Yo Marlo" he even calls out his hit man. "That's billboard strong," Cummings said. Hatch's lawyer said detectives called Louding the "ace in the hole." Attorney Jason Williams pointed out that's a poker saying. He said poker is a game of deceit. He added the detective testified he's skilled at deceit and that's what this case is about. He told the jury to notice investigators said they preserved computers with lyrics on them for jurors to see, but police didn't preserve 10 hours of interrogation tape for jurors to see. "This case not about Boosie, but who's being tried first?" Williams asked. "Not the man who says he killed six people."

He went on to state there is no proof Hatch had beef with Terry Boyd. He said the task force that was created needs a big arrest to keep going and then asked, "What's bigger than a rapper going down for murder?" He told the jury no one followed up on the lead Terry Boyd's mother gave, until last year. By that time, the man she told them to talk to was dead. Officers also said they never read the Terry Boyd file, but they were investigating. Boyd had 15 old scars on his body from bullet wounds. An old bullet was found in him. Williams posed the question, "Was someone coming back to finish what they started?" He said this all started over a letter Lee Lucas supposedly sent telling Hatch that, "Boyd was getting out of prison and he said he's going to 'jack and slap you.'" "Where is that letter? Why didn't Lee Lucas testify?" the attorney asked. He also stated lots of lyrics were played, but prosecutors didn't play the one that said f--- Hillar Moore. "Why?" he asked.

Prosecutors were given a chance to speak to the jury one last time and finished. The judge then gave jurors instructions and they were sent to deliberate the case. Defense attorneys for Hatch rested their case Thursday afternoon without calling any witnesses. Attorney Jason Williams told jurors Thursday the defense was resting its case based on the fact the burden of proof lies with the state and based on the testimony of the state's witnesses. The prosecution had rested its case around 2:44 p.m. after six days of testimony from 27 witnesses.
