The guy who starred as troubled youth Thomas Sams in the 1989 classic "Lean On Me" was arrested in Arizona for allegedly buying 200 pounds of pot from an undercover cop this week.

Jermaine "Huggy" Hopkins has been charged with two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana.

According to police, the 38-year-old actor lives in North Carolina ... but traveled to AZ to make the drug deal on Tuesday.

Cops in Maricopa County say they set up the sting operation ... and after Hopkins took possession of the dope, they pulled over his SUV and arrested him. Cops say they found $100k in cash in the ride.

Officials later searched Hopkins' Arizona apartment and claim they found an additional 100 pounds of weed.

Police say Hopkins told them he got involved in the drug deal to provide a nice Christmas for his family.

Hopkins is being held on $35,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison.

A teen who was videotaped being spanked by his uncle for boasting about gang ties on his Facebook page was found shot to death last week nearby his New Orleans home.

Michael Taylor, 16, was found shot to death shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. In a video uploaded in January, Taylor’s uncle spanked the teen after finding out about his gang ties.

R.I.P. Special One Of Conscious Daughters A Female Rap Legend

wow this is so sad man i knew her i met her when the Conscious Daughters was on the GuGu Presents The Killa KliQue album and we kicked it with them when we was out in Oakland back in 1998


(AllHipHop News) Special One of the Conscious Daughters has died suddenly.
Special One, nee Karryl Smith, is an artist long affiliated with The Coup and was one of the more infamous rappers that always carried a powerful message in the music.
CMG, the rap partner of Special One, wrote a note on Facebook, revealing the death of her friend.

“Thank you to everyone for your prayers I need them. I am sick over the loss of my sister. The cause of death is still unknown but I will try to share info when I get it. Pray for me and Karryl’s other sisters Jessica and Tonya. We are all together trying to get through this.”
Friends and family have poured their condolences over social media, including Facebook and Twitter. 



Activist Dave “Davey D” Cook said on Twitter, “To those of us who knew Special One and to her family and her partner CMG who found her in her apt.. Hugs, prayers & support.”
The Conscious Daughters debuted in 1993 with Ear To The Street and they released two subsequent LP’s, Gamers (1996) and The Nutcracker Suite (2009)
